Capped off by a “touchdown on the siren” victory over cross-town rivals Thuringowa in the final of the Men’s Open division, the North Queensland heavyweight also managed to win the respective titles in the Men’s Over 39, Women’s Over 26, Men’s Under 20 and Women’s Open Tier 1 divisions.

Townsville Castle Hill stalwart and President, Glen Wilson, was thrilled with the efforts of their players at this year’s event.

“We’ve always had strong sides and this year was definitely no different, it’s something that we’ve always been proud of.”

“I was glad to see that some of our sides were able pull it all together, some with very little preparation.”

While the prestigious titles of the Men’s and Women’s Open divisions definitely sit high in the list of achievements for the Townsville Castle Hill President, Wilson was also pleased to see results in the over-aged divisions at the event.

“It’s great to see that we still remain competitive in the older age divisions as well. A lot of those players were playing in the open’s divisions a few years ago and have made the move to play over-aged Touch. The mind is still there, but the body has slowed down a little bit.”
