Touch Football State Carnival 09/06/22 – 12/06/22

Cairns Pirates Touch Football were given the opportunity to host the 13 to 15 years School Touch State Championship last Thursday to Sunday.

A huge thank you the volunteers who helped us organise, cook, and sell refreshments non-stop for the four days. Marion, Kerensa, Geoff (unlucky passers-by), Jacko, Larry, Joan, Cas, Kent, Josh, Lucy, Jaquie and Andy.

I would like to give a plug to Ben & the ‘Chef Link’ team who donated much of the catering needs in the kitchen and to Chriso from ‘Chriso the Personal Chef’ for his donation of equipment, chips, expertise, and time. I am more than happy to endorse both businesses to any members requiring this type of service.

It was a pleasure working with Moggy, Blossom and Phil from School Sport & the carnival conveners Tiani and Katie-Ann over the four days.

Also, Cairns Regional Council provided us with the ‘curly bells’ and organised the rubbish bins.

The behaviour of the participants and spectators could not be faulted & the weather was brilliant (standard Cairns climate for ‘winter’).

We are all looking forward to our next opportunity to host.

Thank you all once again, Peter Rowe, Club President.
